Participation/Admittance Criteria
The Facility will not discriminate and will comply with all applicable state and federal laws with respect to age, race, color, national origin, ancestry, religion, sex, handicap or disability.
The Aperto program capabilities are limited by the size and location of the facility, its equipment and amenities, and the professional and personal characteristics of Aperto management and staff. The Aperto program capabilities are balanced with the interests, issues, and needs of the individual Guests in deciding who is served by Aperto. Program participation is limited to Guests with the below characteristics:
• 18 to 40 years of age
• Self-administer any required medication
• No history, within the last 5 years, of self-harm or harming others (people and animals), eating disorder(s), uncontrolled mental health issues, exploitation, bullying, sexual aggression, stealing, and/or property damage
• Non-combative and not disruptive in social situations
• Verbal/communicative and follow simple directions and instructions
• Ambulatory--wheel chair accommodation not required
• Cognitive and physical capability to evacuate Aperto in case of emergency
• Capable of eating, dressing, grooming, toileting, getting in and out of bed, taking care of personal hygiene, including dental care, and menstruation issues independently, with monitoring and/or prompting, and/or with little physical assistance
• Non-smoker
• No use of alcohol and no illegal or unauthorized drug use while participating in Aperto program
• Routinely engage in outdoor activities (or will do so at Aperto)
• Compliant with simple housekeeping rules, including clean-up after self, hang wet towels and clothes on towel bars, dispose of all self-generated garbage and recycle items in designated containers, etc.; may require monitoring and/or prompting
• Will reconnect with Aperto within a pre-approved time frame when unsupervised (by choice) in the community
• May periodically choose to be at Aperto without supervision for a pre-approved time period
• Will admit into Aperto only visitors who have a direct personal connection to the Guest; those admitted by Guest are not a known safety risk to anyone or anything at Aperto; will admit uniformed public safety personnel
• Tolerant of a large dog living at Aperto (no other pets are allowed at Aperto)
• Will notify Aperto of any repair or maintenance issues, including toilet overflow, leaks, safety hazards, breakage
Program admittance is limited to Guests who agree to reschedule, if they have any signs of a communicable disease.
